This 1935 Packard Super Eight is an extraordinary piece of motoring and aviation history, custom-built for legendary aviator Amelia Earhart.
According to historical accounts, the vehicle was ordered by the President of the Packard Motor Company and presented to Earhart ahead of her ill-fated around-the-world flight attempt in 1937. It served as her personal transport in Dallas, Texas, a city she frequented between 1935 and 1937 while overseeing the construction of her aircraft.
One of just seven believed to have been produced in this configuration, the car was originally equipped with every factory option available at the time, including a radio, heater/demister, luggage rack with travel trunk, golf club storage compartments, and even a flower vase in the cabin. Special fog lamps and bumper overriders bearing the initials “A” and “E” add to its personalised detailing.
With just 55,000 miles and off the road since the late 1930s, restoration began in Tennessee in 2007 and was completed in Australia in 2012. This is a one-of-a-kind motor car with an aviation legend’s story woven into its history.
