Noosa Concours d’Elegance | Mercedes-Benz 300SL

#18
1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL

Engine: 3.0 litre - 6 cylinder
Output: 212 horsepower

Based on the 1952 W194 sportscar racer, the first Mercedes-Benz to wear the SL badge, the 300 SL Roadster was unveiled at the 1957 Geneva Salon as the successor to the legendary Gullwing. It offered improved comfort, refined engineering, and the freedom of open-top motoring, while preserving the performance pedigree that made the SL name iconic.

This early-production, matching-numbers example was originally delivered to the United States in left-hand drive configuration. One of just 1,858 Roadsters produced before the model’s production ended in 1963, it was discovered as a remarkable garden find, showing significant damage from years of neglect. A comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration was completed 10-years ago by marque specialist Lars Rombelsheim of LARO Sportwagen in Germany.

Today, this beautifully restored car is presented in exceptional condition.

Highly sought-after, the 300 SL Roadster remains a true automotive icon, blending rarity, elegance, and enduring performance.
