#32
1964 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE

Engine: 2.2 litre - 6 cylinder
Output: 120 horsepower - 88kW

First presented at the 1961 Frankfurt Motor Show, this rare right-hand drive Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Cabriolet is one of only 192 units crafted from a total of 2,729 cabriolets produced until 1965. Originally delivered to Duke Oliver Niblett in Surrey, UK, this car is celebrated for its matching numbers and a detailed history of maintenance and restoration.

The cabriolet changed hands multiple times between 1964 and 1976 before undergoing a thorough restoration led by Mercedes specialist Steve Redfearn. This included a complete engine overhaul and comprehensive bodywork restoration, replacing many panels, including all the wings. In 2004, a new owner continued the restoration, culminating in 2005 with a colour change from its original champagne beige to a sleek silver.

Acquired by its current owner in 2012, the vehicle received another extensive refurbishment. This included a complete re-trim with new leather, correct-spec carpets, a new triple-layer hood, and refined timber work by UK specialists. The cabriolet's restoration journey was recently finalised, ensuring this magnificent vehicle continues to captivate onlookers at every turn.
