Noosa Concours d’Elegance | Mercedes 50 HP Tourer

#5
1911 Mercedes 50 HP Tourer

Engine: 7.25 litre - 4 cylinder
Output: 50 horsepower

Introduced in 1907, the Mercedes 50 HP was the marque’s formidable response to the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. Powered by a 7.25-litre T-head four-cylinder engine and featuring advanced chassis engineering, the model offered performance, innovation, and refinement at the very highest level of early motoring.

This example was acquired by prominent collector Scott Isquick in 1955 and remained part of his collection for almost 70 years. Stored in his garage awaiting restoration, the car suffered damage in a 1976 fire that necessitated the rebuilding of several components. Many brass accessories were lost, requiring the fabrication of parts such as the radiator and the sourcing of period-correct driving lamps.

Restoration was completed in 1988, returning the car to its original grandeur. In 2011, it was awarded 3rd place in the Mercedes Antique Class at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, recognising both its historical significance and superb presentation.
