Noosa Concours d’Elegance | Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spyder

#20
1961 Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spyder

Engine: 3.5 litre - 6 cylinder
Output: 230 horsepower

One of just 242 examples produced between 1959 and 1964, the Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spyder remains one of the marque’s most elegant and desirable open grand tourers.

Delivered new on 5 June 1961 to Vicenza, Italy, it was factory-equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox, disc brakes, Borrani wheels, a factory hard top, and a special-order carburettor setup. It still retains its original matching numbers chassis and engine.

The car arrived in Australia in the late 1960s with Luigi Micheletti, who was with the Italian consulate at the time. It was converted to right-hand drive in the early 1970s and has remained in Australia since, including nearly 30 years in the care of a Melbourne-based collector.

Recently, it underwent a full bare-metal restoration to concours standard, including a return to its original Argento Luna (silver) finish. Today, this Maserati is a rare and distinguished piece of Italian automotive history.
