Noosa Concours d’Elegance | Lamborghini Miura P400S

#29
1970 Lamborghini Miura P400S

Engine: 3.9 litre - 12 cylinder
Output: 375 horsepower

There are certain cars that are notable milestones in the automotive landscape, and the Lamborghini Miura is unquestionably one of them. First unveiled in 1966, the Miura was Lamborghini’s first mid-engine V12, positioning the engine behind the cockpit and ahead of the rear wheels, an architecture that would become the blueprint for generations of supercars. It is widely regarded as the first supercar and the most beautiful car ever made.

Penned by Marcello Gandini for Bertone, the Miura captivated the world with its bold, sleek lines, low-slung silhouette, and signature “eyelash” headlight surrounds that became synonymous with the Lamborghini brand. The lead engineer was Gian Dallara.

Introduced at the 1968 Turin Motor Show, the Miura P400S (Miura S) offered refined performance and comfort over its predecessor. Only 338 examples were built between 1969 and 1971, with this car being one of just six delivered new to Australia.

Expertly restored by its previous owner, it has since claimed numerous accolades, including Best in Show at the Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance, Auto Italia Canberra, and the 110 Years of Bertone class at Motorclassica.
