Noosa Concours d’Elegance | Lamborghini Countach LP400S

#49
1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400S

Engine: 3.9 litre - 12 cylinder
Output: 375 horsepower - 280kW

The Lamborghini Countach LP400S, introduced as a successor to the LP400 'periscopio', is a marvel of automotive design, influenced by the wedge shape and scissor doors of Marcello Gandini's Carabo concept car.

This early LP400S is the only factory right-hand drive example of the 50 Series 1 'low body' cars built. These cars featured the Campagnolo 'Bravo' style wheels mounted with Pirelli’s new P7 tyres. Some of these early cars, including this example, retained the original LP400 interior with the Stewart Warner gauges. Lamborghini built only 237 Countach LP400S’ from 1978 through until 1982.

This particular car was originally delivered new to Perth, Western Australia. After a fascinating history across multiple owners and a significant period in storage, this Countach underwent a major mechanical refurbishment by the current owner who interestingly, first went for a ride in the car at the age of 13, before acquiring it 39 years later. When removed from long term storage in 2019, the odometer was 23,285km. The car retains its original interior, which has been beautifully preserved.

Today, this Lamborghini stands as a stunning example of the Countach’s enduring allure.
