Noosa Concours d’Elegance | Lagonda LB6

#26
1950 Lagonda LB6

Engine: 2.6 litre - 6 cylinder
Output: 138 horsepower - 103kW

This rare, matching numbers 1950 Lagonda LB6 Drophead Coupe, a precursor to the Aston Martin DB series, was originally delivered to Sir Derrick Bailey in Gloucestershire, UK. It is one of only 122 convertibles ever produced.

After arriving in Australia in the 1960s, its early history remains unclear. After multiple ownership changes in the 1970s, the vehicle was acquired by Carolyn Harper, lessee of the Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne. It was sparingly used and remained garaged for nearly 30 years.

In 2013, under new ownership, the vehicle underwent a sympathetic and mainly cosmetic restoration that included timber frame repairs, bodywork, and a complete interior overhaul along with a custom-made soft top.

The current owners, who acquired the car in 2023, undertook further restoration to enhance its condition. Mechanically, the car has preserved much of its originality, with its engine and major components receiving careful attention to ensure performance and reliability. Today, this Drophead Coupe stands as a stunning representation of the Lagonda marque, celebrated for its rich heritage and rarity.
