Described by Enzo Ferrari as "the most beautiful car in the world," this 1962 Jaguar Series 1 E-Type emerges from obscurity to make its show debut after 49 years under covers.
Based on the Le Mans-winning D-Type, the E-Type was designed for performance with a 240 km/h top speed and sub-7-second 0 to 60mph acceleration. It features largely unitary body construction, independent suspension with disc brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering.
Originally dispatched from Coventry in April 1962, the vehicle found its way to Sydney and then Victoria, where it was driven for about 8 years before being stored away in 1973. Acquired from a deceased estate in 2022 by its current owners, this original, right-hand drive, matching numbers E-Type underwent an exhaustive restoration by Concours Sportscar Restoration, completed in December 2023. With very little rust and minimal damage, every effort was made to preserve its original components during the meticulous nuts-and-bolts restoration.
Maintaining its original paint and trim colour combination, this pristine restoration ensures that this Series 1 E-Type retains not just its original allure but also its place as a timeless classic in automotive history.
