The Jaguar Mark II Saloon was introduced in 1959 with elegant lines, a bold grille and plenty of British grunt. It was one of the finest and fastest saloons available throughout the 1960’s, it even went racing successfully and was a popular choice for the United Kingdom’s Police Forces.
As the successor to the Mk1, the vehicle offered better all-round visibility and the dashboard was redesigned with the speedometer and rev counter now located in front of the driver. This vehicle is an original right-hand drive with the desirable 4-speed synchromesh manual transmission that must be driven to be appreciated.
Its restoration included an engine upgrade to the more powerful and torquey 4.2L period engine specification, keeping Jaguar's race-bred history alive. Engine upgrades were a popular choice for period racers like Coombs and Graeme Hill that dominated the 1960's.
Presented in classically styled dark blue over light grey upholstery with matching carpets and contrast timber veneer with neatly fitted chrome trim, the correct dash instrumentation and evenly weighted steering, pedal and gears making for a superb restoration.
