1922 Bugatti Type 13 'Brescia'

Engine: 1.5 litre - 4 cylinder
Output: 40 horsepower - 30kW

In 1921, the Bugatti Type 13 “Brescia” revolutionised motorsport, signaling the end of an era dominated by large, heavy racing cars. Its open-top design, lightweight body, superior chassis and powerful engines made the Type 13 a race car that was way ahead of its time.

This 1922 Bugatti Type 13 “Brescia” has a remarkable story of restoration and preservation. Discovered in 1960 by the current owner's father after a chance encounter with the former owner at a service station in Ascot Park, Adelaide, the Bugatti was initially found in pieces beneath the former owner’s house. At the time, it was not all Bugatti, with an Ansaldo motor, Lancia gearbox, and Amilcar front axle.

With painstaking effort and dedication, the Bugatti underwent an extensive restoration by the owner, spanning over 60 years. Every detail was meticulously restored, from the authentic Bugatti blue paint to the immaculate engine bay, brass work and wooden steering wheel.

Now, as a testament to a lifelong obsession and family legacy, the Bugatti graces shows and exhibitions, offering enthusiasts a glimpse into automotive history.
