Noosa Concours d’Elegance | Bentley R Type

#41
1952 Bentley R Type

Engine: 4.5 litre - 6 cylinder
Output: 130 horsepower - 97kW

The Bentley R Type, successor to the Mark VI, represents the pinnacle of post-war luxury automobiles. While sharing similarities with the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, it was the more popular marque, with 2,323 units produced.

Originally purchased in the UK by a Colonel in the British Army, this R Type found its way to the United States under the ownership of a former Bentley employee who, after a financial windfall, fulfilled his dream of owning a Bentley himself. Many years later the car was sold to new owners in Melbourne, who had purchased it as a gift for their father who was born in 1952, the year the car was manufactured.

Acquiring the car in 2011 after it had been sitting in a warehouse for many years, the current owners then embarked on a meticulous restoration to bring the car back to its original condition.

This Bentley R Type, one of only six in Australia, now exudes timeless sophistication and opulence.
